In candlestand, I forgo hardware in favour of integrated threads and traditional joinery, creating a structure that is both adaptable and easily disassembled. This approach allows the piece to respond to its user, embracing transformation as a core function.
Candlestand draws on references to 17th- and 18th-century tables designed to illuminate their own surfaces, reinterpreting these historical forms through a contemporary lens.

The process is explored of weaving around a single natural object. What remains when the warp threads are cut, and the object is removed, is only the evidence of absence. A hole is made, with the objects not presented. This space is held through taut tenuous threads, lending meaning to the absence of something, as instead energetic presence.
